Man arrested after firing shots outside Athens court
A man was arrested on Friday after firing a gun outside an Athens court.
The man, reportedly a relative of Marios Papageorgiou, the 26-year-old victim in an ongoing kidnapping and murder trial, was speaking to the media outside the appeals court in Athens when he pulled out a handgun firing three shots in the air.
Undercover agents arrested the man as he left the scene.

Court rejects ex-minister's bail request
An Athens court has rejected an appeal by former defense minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos for the reduction of a bail payment of 200,000 euros, a term of his early release.
The 77-year-old, who was handed a 20-year sentence for money laundering in 2013, was released from Korydallos Prison earlier this month due to frail health but had to return after failing to meet bail.

Two former bankers charged with breach of faith
The Athens Court of First Instance on Thursday brought criminal charges of breach of faith against the former governor of the Bank of Greece, Giorgos Provopoulos, and the former chairman of Piraeus Bank, Michalis Sallas, after a probe allegedly found them responsible for losses suffered by social insurance funds ahead of the country's economic crisis.

Court sentences underpass molester to 16 years in prison
An Athens court on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old man dubbed by media "the dragon of Maroussi" to 16 years and two months in prison without parole over the attempted rape of six women in the northern suburb of Maroussi in 2016.

Influential Greek daily out again after court ruling
Greece's influential center-left Ta Nea newspaper has resumed publication five days after running out of newsprint due to its parent Lambrakis Press's acute financial problems.
The daily reappeared on newsstands Tuesday, the Associated Press reported, a day after an Athens court agreed to unfreeze one of the group's bank accounts to cover publication costs.
Turkish sailor sentenced over naval base photos
A Turkish sailor was given a one-year suspended prison sentence by an Athens court after being arrested taking photos of a Greek naval base.
The 51-year-old was arrested at the port of Elefsina, west of Athens, earlier this month. According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, he was taking photos of the Salamina Naval Yard from the Turkish cargo vessel Makbule Ana.

Greek power firm executives found guilty of embezzlement
An Athens court on Tuesday found several executives of the Energa and Hellas Power electricity companies guilty of stealing money from the state.
The court convicted Aris Floros and Nikos Dekolis of embezzlement.
Stefanos Siafakas, Achilleas Floros and Vassilis Milionis were deemed to be accessories to the theft.
Maziotis, Roupa appeal starts in Athens prison court
An Athens court of appeals on Tuesday started hearing an appeal by convicted urban terrorists Nikos Maziotis and Pola Roupa against their 50-year sentence.
