Teen treated after taking anxiety drug

A 13-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in Athens on Thursday after ingesting unknown quantities of an anxiety drug at a house in the district of Peristeri.

The teen was with a friend when, under unclear circumstances, she escaped her aunt's attention and swallowed several pills from a box containing Xanax. The girl was rushed to Attikon Hospital but her health is not at risk. 

Attikon Hospital doctors plead for urgent help from state, dozens of patients treated on cots

Doctors at the large Attikon hospital in Attica, a university hospital, have issued a statement indicating that the hospital has reached the breaking point and that once again today their shift began with dozens of patients being treated on cots, for lack of beds.

Greek President, Prime Minister are vaccinated

President Katerina Sakellaropoulou was vaccinated against the coronavirus Sunday afternoon.

"This Christmas, science gave us the greatest gift," Sakellaropoulou said after her vaccination shortly after 2 pm Sunday.

Sakellaropoulou is the first of 45 state officials whose vaccination was given priority to keep the machinery of state operating smothly.

Greece’s Covid-19 death toll reaches 100

Greece's death toll from the novel coronavirus has reached 100, after a patient at the capital's Attikon Hospital succumbed to the disease late on Monday.

According to preliminary reports, the patient was a man aged 84 years old.

Greece confirmed its first novel coronavirus infection on February 26 and reported the first death from the Covid-19 disease on March 12.

Covid-19 toll at 89 after three more patients die

Three patients have died since the last government update on the course of the coronavirus epidemic in Greece on Thursday evening, bringing the total toll to 89.

Overnight, a 79-year-old man died at the AHEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, and an 86-year-old woman succumbed to the virus at the capital's Attikon Hospital.
