Ifaistos beats Peristeri to eject it from Basket League's top four
The first half of the Basket League's regular season has ended with Ifaistos upsetting Peristeri away while Larissa shocked host Lavrio to leave Thessaloniki giants Aris and PAOK in the drop zone.
Promitheas alone in second as Peristeri suffers Kolossos upset
Just a week after shocking Panathinaikos, high-flying Peristeri suffered an upset itself, as it went down at struggling Kolossos on Rhodes, in what has been a quite unpredictable Basket League so far this season: After 12 rounds of games, it has Thessaloniki archrivals PAOK and Aris tied at the bottom of the table along with new boys Larissa.
Peristeri shocks Panathinaikos in Basket League
Peristeri upset Panathinaikos for a second year in a row, shattering its unbeaten record in the Basket League and showing it is the favorite for finishing second in the regular season.
The excruciating schedule of the Euroleague, that had Panathinaikos face Barcelona last Friday, and then host Fenerbahce this Tuesday before traveling to Israel to play Maccabi on Thursday.

Aris has dropped to the bottom of the Basket League table
Historic Aris is left alone at the bottom of the Basket League after a 26-point loss at Ifaistos on Saturday, while Promitheas suffered a shock defeat at Rethymno.
Aris was for more than a decade the undisputed king of Greek basketball, in the 1980s and early 1990s, but their recent financial problems have deprived Thessaloniki's Yellows of much of their strength.
Rethymno stuns AEK that slips down to last
AEK has surprisingly found itself at the foot of the Basket League table after five rounds of games, succumbing to hitherto winless Rethymno. This has led to a five-way tie at the bottom, also involving such big names as PAOK and Aris.

Historic Basket League wins for Ionikos and Larissa
Ionikos Nikaias ended a 32-year wait for a top-flight victory in Greek basketball, beating PAOK no less on Saturday, in the third round of games of the Basket League, while Larissa scored its first ever win in the top tier defeating another Thessaloniki team, Aris on Sunday.
The Reds are still looking for a coach
The Basket League enjoyed another very competitive weekend of action, with four teams pairing up their victories, but the news of the week has been the dismissal of Olympiakos coach David Blatt, with the Reds yet to find his replacement.

Basket League starts, without Olympiakos, but with plenty of action
The new Basket League season opened last weekend with the absence of Olympiakos for the first time in the Greek sport's history, and with a rare Thessaloniki derby reminiscent of the Aris vs PAOK classic clashes of the 1980s.
AEK snatches third spot in Basket League
AEK edged out Peristeri away on Saturday in Game 4 of the third-place play-offs to win the best-of-five series 3-1 and clinch the third spot in this year's Basket League.
