Bosnian Croats Win Re-run Poll in Divided Stolac

The main Bosnian Croat party, the Croatian Democratic Union, HDZ, pulled off an expected victory in the heavily monitored renewed elections in the divided southwestern town of Stolac, Bosnia's Central Election Commission reported.

HDZ candidate Stjepan Boskovic was elected new-old mayor of Stolac and the HDZ also won 49 per cent of the votes for the town council. 

Sarajevo Residents Campaign Against Hospital Closure

Campaigners against the closure have been gathering signatures and messages of support outside the General Hospital Abdulah Nakas since the start of this week to protest against the authorities' decision to move it from its current location and merge it into the University Clinic Centre of Sarajevo (UKCS).

Vote Count Almost Over From Bosnia's Election

Based on around 95 per cent of votes counted, the three members of Bosnia's State Presidency will Bakir Izetbegovic - for the Bosniaks, Dragan Covic - for the Croats, and Mladen Ivanic - for the Serbs.

Izetbegovic, the existing Bosniak member, standing for the Bosniak Party of Democratic Action, SDA, won about 228,000 votes, some 40,000 more than his main rival, Fahrudin Radoncic.
