Socialist Presidential Candidate Denies 'Russophilia' Claims

Bulgaria should develop its own policies and pursue and defend them abroad, and not the other way around, the Air Force's ex-commander and current socialist presidential candidate has said.

In an interview with private bTV station, Maj Gen Rumen Radev has argued the country should act in its own interest, instead of eing imposed decisions. He has not elaborated.

Large Wildfire Rages Near Bulgaria's Harmanli

A large wildfire is raging between the villages of Rogozinovo, Dositeevo, Kolarovo and Balgarin in the southern Bulgarian municipality of Harmanli on Sunday.

Ten firefighter crews, five teams of foresters and many volunteers are trying to extinguish the fire which has engulfed vineyards, orchards, pastures, bushes and a pine forest.

Bulgaria, US Begin Preparations for Joint Air Training "Thracian Eagle 2016"

Eight F-15 C/D fighter jets from the 104th Fighter Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard were relocated on Thursday to Bulgaria's Graf Ignatievo Air Base.

The jets were relocated for their participation in the joint Bulgarian-US air training "Thracian Eagle - 2016", the press service of the Bulgarian defence ministry informs.
