Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Services: Two Hikers Rescued after Getting Lost in Beli Iskar River Valley

Mountain rescuers have helped two hikers in the Beli Iskar River valley, the Mountain Rescue Service with the Bulgarian Red Cross) told Focus News Agency. The hikers were on their way to Musala hut on Saturday night into Sunday when they strayed from their path in the fog and got into the valley along the Beli Iskar River. They spend the night there.

Good Conditions for Skiing, Strong Wind High on Vitosha and the Balkan

The weather is unfavourable for hiking in the high parts of Vitosha and the Balkan Mountain Range due to strong wind. At Botev Peak, the wind is stormy. The lift facilities are open, the ski slopes were prepared.

There is still a danger of avalanches in the mountains, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) to the Bulgarian Red Cross told Focus News Agency. Skiers are advised to stay on the marked slopes.
Morning temperatures in the mountains range from zero to minus 10 degrees C. The resorts and ski centres are operating subject to the weather conditions.

Ski and hiking conditions are not suitable anywhere because of the bad weather in the high mountains except Pirin. The overgrown belt is foggy, low in temperature and in most places there is a very strong wind.
