What the World Health Organization has referred to as "a dramatic increase" in cases of measles in Europe has not left Greece untouched, though the rate of cases in the country has slowed in recent months.

Health officials in Greece have confirmed 17 new cases of West Nile virus this week, bringing this summer's total to 60 reported cases.

Two West Nile virus cases confirmed in Greece
Two people in Greece have contracted the West Nile virus, which is carried by infected mosquitoes, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) said on Wednesday in its weekly epidemiological data posted on its website.
The two patients who were diagnosed with the virus are the first cases recorded in 2018 and are in stable condition, the disease control agency said.

Measles claims fourth life since last May
Health authorities in Thessaloniki announced on Thursday that an 18-year-old man became the fourth person to die of measles in the past year on Tuesday after succumbing to respiratory complications while receiving treatment at the northern port city's Papanikolaou Hospital.

Health agency staff say aides intimidated them
