The Procter & Gamble Group is expanding in the field of supply chain and logistics through the creation of a European central distribution hub, aiming at further strengthening its presence in Greece, an announcement said on Tuesday.

The GATE project "Big Data for an Intelligent Society" was launched yesterday at Sofia University. The aim is to build a Center of Excellence in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras this week heralded the creation of a new national emergency service in the wake of last month's deadly wildfires in Attica, but in fact Greece already has an expert agency that has for years been offering its expertise via Copernicus, the European Union's Earth observation program - chiefly to other countries though. 

The large fires that burned for four days in Kalamos, Kapandriti and other parts of eastern Attica razed around 2,700 hectares of land, according to estimates by the National Observatory, significantly higher than statements by government officials had suggested.

Turkey's Liv Hospital has received the U.S.-based Surgical Review Corporation's (SRC) Center of Excellence accreditation in three branches.

Entering the health sector three years ago, Liv Hospital, which has locations in Istanbul and Ankara, was the first corporation to receive Center of Excellence accreditation outside the U.S. in several branches.
