Jewish community warns against ‘darkness of oblivion’ in Holocaust Day message

KIS congratulates Greek authorities on preventing terrorist attack
The Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS) has congratulated Greek Police (ELAS) and the country's intelligence agency (EYP) for preventing a terrorist attack planned against at least one Jewish site in Athens.
"Thanks to the methodical work and timely intervention of the security forces, dozens of human lives were saved," KIS said in a statement.
Jewish community: Holocaust remembrance is ‘sacred mission’
In the leadup to International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27, the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS) has said that the responsibility to pass on the memory of the Holocaust "is a sacred mission."
In a statement, the KIS noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the deportation of Jews from the German and Bulgarian occupation zones of Greece.

Vandals spray-paint Jewish monument in Drama
Unknown assailants vandalized the Holocaust Monument in the city of Drama, northern Greece, on the night of December 28, the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KISE) said on Wednesday, while condemning the act.
The perpetrators sprayed a black cross and broke the base of marble at the base of the monument.

Greece’s Jewish community extends wishes to healthcare workers, Covid-19 patients
In its message for this year's Pessach (Passover), the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS) on Tuesday extended its wishes to healthcare professionals and those who have contracted Covid-19.
"Our thoughts are with our fellow citizens who are sick and we pray so that God helps them 'pass over' from the loneliness of pain to the joy of life," KIS said in a press release.
