Some political representatives of the Roma and Bosniak communities in Kosovo as well as civil society organisations have claimed that the seats their representatives obtained in Kosovo's parliament in the February elections were essentially arranged by the Belgrade-backed Kosovo Serb party, Srpska Lista.

The opposition Vetevendosje party was on course for a landslide victory in snap parliamentary elections in Kosovo on Sunday, on a day that its leader and prime ministerial candidate, Albin Kurti, described as a "bright day" when he cast his ballot at a Pristina polling centre in the morning.

Voters in Kosovo will cast their ballots today in snap parliamentary elections - the sixth such poll in 14 years -  which analysts have predicted will be a much tighter race than usual.

More than 1,000 MP candidates will be keeping their fingers crossed on Sunday, awaiting the voters' verdict in Kosovo's sixth parliamentary elections in under 14 years.

Some 28 political entities are on the ballot papers seeking votes in yet another early election. Since 20017, not one cabinet in Kosovo has succeeded in completing its full four-year term.

The debate raged for nearly seven hours, but eventually Kosovo's divided Central Election Commission, CEC, took a decision on January 22 that threatens the prospects of the popular Vetevendosje [Self-Determination] party in a Valentine's Day snap election.

Bosnia's Election Commission, the CIK, has filed a lawsuit against Bosnian Serb strongman and Serbian member of the state presidency Milorad Dodik, accusing him of inciting national hatred. The crime carries a statutory sentence of three months to ten years in prison if the accused is found guilty.

The idea is to reduce the possibility of people voting under the name of absentee voters - a major problem in Albania, where up to 40 per cent of the voters are believed to be abroad.

The breakaway region of Transnistria in Moldova on Sunday staged parliamentary elections for the seventh Supreme Council (local parliament) since 1992, in which only a minority of voters cast ballots.
