US Lawmakers Approve Massive Defence Package to Counter China’s Threat to Taiwan

The US House of Representatives has passed the National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2024, a substantial $895 billion bill that includes provisions to strengthen Taiwan's defence capabilities. In a 281-140 vote, lawmakers approved the act, which allocates up to $300 million for military articles and training to support Taiwan's self-defence efforts amid growing regional tensions.

Vucevic meets with Chinese Communist Party secretary of Shanghai

China ends military drills around Taiwan

China has ended two days of military drills around Taiwan that saw jets loaded with live munitions and warships practise seizing and isolating the self-ruled island.

The exercises simulated strikes targeting Taiwan's leaders as well as its ports and airports to "cut off the island's 'blood vessels'", Chinese military analysts told state media.

Another confirmation? A big war is on the horizon

Already high tensions between Russia and NATO have escalated in recent weeks after the military alliance announced the launch of its largest military exercise in 35 years. The exercise called 'Steadfast Defender 2024' launched at the end of January, will last until the end of May, and 90,000 soldiers from 31 NATO allies and Sweden will participate in it.
