105 tons of paper recycled through Zero Waste Project in parliament

Within the scope of the Zero Waste Project aiming at reducing Türkiye's waste burden, 105 tons of paper and cardboard were recycled in the parliament in 2023, officals have informed. 

The project, which is carried out under the auspices of first lady Emine Erdoğan has been meticulously implemented by the parliament since 2018.

Marine pollution to be monitored at 425 locations: Ministry

 

As part of a project under to coordination of the Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Ministry and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBTAK), the waters of the country will be monitored at 425 separate locations for a period of three years to combat marine pollution.

All 81 provinces to undergo urban transformation: Ministry

The Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ministry has recently launched an effort with the goal of transforming 2 million homes in all 81 cities, with an annual target of 400,000 homes over a five-year period, with a focus on risky areas in 59 provinces and reserve building zones in 65 provinces.

Regulation to limit inexperienced engineers to approve high-rises

A new regulation by the Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ministry will limit static projects approved by inexperienced new graduate civil engineers to four floors, as the experience criteria to prepare high-rise building projects will vary in accordance with the height of the building.

Works ongoing to remove 101 million tons of quake rubble

Within the scope of efforts to remove tons of rubble following the deadly Feb. 6 quakes, the Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ministry has assessed that some 101 million tons of debris lie in the quake-hit region, 2 million tons of which can be recycled to contribute to the economy, says a senior official.
