The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria Will Insist on a Minimum Salary of BGN 700

The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) will insist on a salary of at least BGN 700 for a young people who graduated university, and who are working in their specialty. Decent pay for overtime is also part of the demands of the unions for which they will fight during the national  protest on Friday, October 27.

Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria Want Decent Pay

In a letter to Minister of Labour and Social Policy Biser Petkov, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) in Bulgaria supports the proposal by the European Commission, set down in Directive 96/71/EC regarding the posting of workers, for replacing the words ''minimum rates of pay'' by ''remuneration''.

According to the leader of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) Plamen Dimitrov, the system of social assistance must be reformed without a reduction of the financing; the poorest pensioners can receive a bonus through the pension system but through the social assistance system, according to BNR.

CITUB: Sharp Increase of Gas Prices Is Unreasonable and Inexpedient

The decision of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission for an increase of the natural gas prices is neither reasonable nor expedient, Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) President Plamen Dimitrov said at the BTA Press Club in Veliko Turnovo.

In his opinion, the regulator should face the people and explain the reason for the increase in a timely manner.

The results were presented at a national conference titled ''Social Dialogue for Fair Pay'' organized by the trade union.

The chairperson of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (KNSB) Plamen Dimitrov expects tensions in many sectors of the economy to occur in the autumn.

This could result in the staging of protests and strikes, Dimitrov said on Saturday, Darik radio informs.
