Top court may drop head of bar associations from invitee list of upcoming ceremony

President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has clearly stated he will not attend the ceremony marking the commencement of the judicial year for 2014-2015 if the head of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) delivers a speech there, pressuring Turkey’s top court to review its list of invitees.

Turkish court stops wind farm project, saves ‘Auntie’ Remziye’s olive grove

Turkey’s Council of State has ordered a stay of execution for the government’s decision to “urgently expropriate” an olive grove in western Turkey in order to build a wind farm power plant, marking a legal victory for the plot’s 80-year-old owner, “Auntie” Remziye Saatli.

Top court declares river threatened by new HES project natural protected area

Turkey’s Council of State approved on June 30 an earlier ruling declaring the Alakır River in the Mediterranean province of Antalya a natural protected area. 

A total of four hydroelectric plants (HES), have so far been constructed along the 70-kilometer-long river, which takes its water source from the Bey Mountains, west of Antalya.
