Slovenia Aliens Act Proposal Worries Croatia

Slovenian plans to toughen its procedures for receiving refugees and asylum seekers worries activists and migrant experts in Croatia, where it is feared that the changes could cause additional problems.

Experts told BIRN that Slovenia's move would endanger the rights and security of refugees traveling to Western Europe along the "Balkan route" but would not end migration per se.

Montenegro Releases Crime Reporter Martinovic

After almost year and a half in detention on drug smuggling charges, Montenegro has freed crime reporter Jovo Martinovic, his family confirmed to BIRN on Thursday.

Martinovic was released on Wednesday to face his ongoing trial before a court in Podgorica on drug-related charges that he has several times denied.

Croatian Police Discovers 62 Migrants in Minivan

The Croatian police discovered late on Saturday night during a routine inspection 62 migrants from the Middle East stuffed in a minivan, reported BNR.

According to Radio Novska, the vehicle was driven by a Bulgarian citizen.

The condition of some of the migrants was reported as very bad. All of them have been treated by medical staff.

Six Bulgarians Arrested in Croatia for Migrant Trafficking

The Croatian police have detained six Bulgarian citizens for migrant trafficking, reported the information portal Index, cited by BNT.

A truck with Bulgarian registration was stopped on November 24 at the town of Trastenik. 43 foreigners were discovered inside the lorry - 31 Afghanis, 11 Pakistani citizens and one Iranian.
