Croatia Registers Over 3,000 More War Veterans During Pandemic
The Croatian War Veterans' Ministry said that the number of people granted the official status of war veteran rose by 3,324 from March 2020 to November 30 this year, news website Index reported on Sunday.
Tonin discusses innovation in defence at EDA conference

Italian army medical teams coming to Slovenian hospitals
Ljubljana – Fifteen Italian military health professionals will come to Slovenia on Sunday to join the medical teams of the Slovenian Armed Forces helping in Covid-19 hospitals. The Italian team will be greeted by Defence Minister Matej Tonin and Health Minister Janez Poklukar in Kranj, the Defence Ministry said in a press release.
Slovenia remembers defender of its northern border
Ljubljana – Slovenia observes Rudolf Maister Day on Tuesday, remembering the general who established the first Slovenian army in modern history and secured what later became Slovenia’s northern border. The holiday commemorates the day in 1918 when Maister (1874-1934) took control of Maribor.

Italy to help Slovenia tackle Covid with army medical teams
Ljubljana – The Italian Army plans to help Slovenia with up to 30 doctors and nurses as the country battles an increasing number of Covid-19 patients, it was agreed at a meeting between the Slovenian and Italian defence ministers. Slovenian Defence Minister Matej Tonin tweeted this on Wednesday after meeting his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Guerini.

Rome – Defence Minister Matej Tonin signed an agreement on the purchase of a Spartan C-27J transport aircraft with his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Guerini in Rome on Wednesday.

Delo urges caution in arms deals
Ljubljana – The newspaper Delo notes on Saturday that there is a long history of scandals involving arms deals in Slovenia. Commenting on a government-to-government purchase of a transport aircraft from Italy, the paper says that the Defence Ministry has checked whether the deal could be carried out without an anti-corruption clause in the contract.

Defence Minister Tonin visits Montenegro
Podgorica – Defence Minister Matej Tonin was on a working visit to Montenegro on Friday to meet his counterpart Olivera Injac in Podgorica and attend the To Be Secure international security forum in Budva, the Defence Ministry said in a press release.
