Defense ministers meet in ‘positive atmosphere’

A meeting between the Greek and Turkish defense ministers as part of the 5th Greece-Turkey High Level Cooperation Council in Athens took place "in a positive atmosphere," Defense Ministry sources have said.

Nikos Dendias received his Turkish counterpart, Yassar Guler, at the Armed Forces Officers' Club.

Göktürk-1 marks 7 years in space

Göktürk-1 satellite has completed 37,378 orbits around the Earth and has captured 82,913 images so far, the Defense Ministry has announced celebrating its seventh year in space.

Göktürk-1 satellite, often hailed as "our eye in the sky" in Türkiye, reached this milestone by circling the Earth uninterruptedly since its launch on Dec. 5, 2016.

Türkiye strikes new PKK targets in northern Iraq

Turkish warplanes conducted airstrikes against PKK targets in northern Iraq on Nov. 7, "destroying 12 key locations and neutralizing numerous terrorists," according to an official statement by the Defense Ministry.

The strikes targeted PKK positions in the Gara and Qandil regions, hitting caves, bunkers, shelters and warehouses used by the organization, read the statement.

Turkish warplanes strike PKK targets in Iraq's north

Turkish forces carried out a targeted airstrike against 15 PKK locations in northern Iraq, Türkiye's Defense Ministry has confirmed.

The operation, conducted late on Nov. 4, focused on the Hakurk region and resulted in the destruction of numerous targets, including caves, shelters and warehouses used by senior PKK members, according to the ministry's announcement.

Türkiye deploys 60,000 military forces along borders, official says

Türkiye stations a total of 60,000 military personnel along its 3,000-kilometer land border, a Defense Ministry official has revealed.

The ministry's planning and operations department head, Brig. Gen. Serkan Bircan, made a presentation to a parliamentary commission on border security in a bid to address concerns related to irregular migration and refugees.
