Heavily armed police surrounded the municipal building and arrested the town management. Police used tear gas to disperse citizens protesting around the building.

Special units and police patrols are located at almost every city intersection, Sputnik reporter informs. The main highway is blocked for traffic, and the police are redirecting vehicles so that it is not possible to pass through Budva to Jaz and further in the direction of the Bay of Kotor.

On Thursday, authorities put Radovan Rakocevic from the town of Bijelo Polje in custody for 72 hours for the offence of spreading panic. Rakocevic had shared an article on Facebook from a Belgrade tabloid, Alo, which claimed that Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic had been infected with the coronavirus.

Police in Montenegro on Friday arrested the mother and cousin of a leader of the opposition Democratic Front, Milan Knezevic. Media reports said that retired teacher Ratka Knezevic, 70, was detained at the family home in the village of Mojanovici, near the capital, Podgorica.
