PRISTINA - Kadri Veseli, deputy leader of Hasim Taci's Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK) was elected speaker of the Kosovo parliament on Monday.

The new parliament speaker is the former head of Kosovo secret service, known as Shik, and one of the founders of Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA, a former ethnic Albanian paramilitary formation).

PRIŠTINA -- Hasim Thaci and Isa Mustafa on Monday signed an agreement to form a ruling coalition in Kosovo.

The two head the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo, respectively.

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga confirmed on Tuesday that a constitutive session of the new parliament would be held on December 8 after a meeting with the leaders of the two parties involved in the coalition - Hashim Thaci of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK, and Isa Mustafa of the Democratic League of Kosovo, LDK.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - President of Srpska List Aleksandar Jablanovic has said he expects official contact with Kosovo's prime minister-designate and officials of the two strongest Kosovo Albanian parties on Wednesday or Thursday to discuss the creation of a new government.

Kosovo set to get government, Thaci to be president in 2016

PRIŠTINA -- Six months after elections followed by a political deadlock "Kosovo will very soon get a new government," the local media in Priština are reporting on Thursday.

Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) leader Isa Mustafa is tipped to become Kosovo's next Prime Minister after an agreement between the main political aprties to form a coalition cabinet, sources say.

Their decision comes after a six-month-long political deadlock following early elections in June called by then-PM Hashim Thaci.

A coalition formed after the June general elections with the aim of toppling the rule of Hashim Thaci and his Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK, is in danger of dissolving without achieving its goal.

Just when Kosovo appeared to be heading for a degree of stability and normalcy, feuding politicians and fresh corruption scandals have plunged the fledgling Balkan nation into its worst political crisis to date.
      

Flora Brovina, from the ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK, who chaired the constitutent session, said the session had been postponed to create "enough room to overcome the political crisis," referring to ongoing discussions between the parties to end  the dispute over the election of a speaker.
