More firms included in loan scheme
The Finance Ministry has decided to allow the inclusion in the fifth phase of its cheap state loans program, known as the "Deposit To Be Returned," of 10,000 enterprises active in retail commerce, food service, tourism, culture, sport and transport that were forced to close due to the coronavirus.

Ministry proposes reopening the market next week
The Development Ministry is set to recommend to the prime minister that retailers be allowed to restart the click-and-collect system as of next Monday, January 18, in the same way it had operated in December, Kathimerini understands.

Greece among top six in 2020 for EU fund absorption
Greece came sixth among the European Union's 28 member-states in the absorption of community funding, the Development Ministry said on Thursday.
Citing European Commission data, the ministry said Greece's absorption rate in 2020 reached 62%, with total expenditures of 11.6 billion euros. Greece also activated 6.5 billion euros to finance its response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Greek PM, Brouillette discuss energy cooperation
Energy cooperation between Athens and Washington was at the center of talks between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and US Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette at Maximos Mansion on Thursday.
The two sides discussed the prospect of further US investment in Greece's energy sector.

Stores with seasonal goods to reopen on December 7
Shops selling Christmas trees and decorations will reopen on December 7, the Development Ministry announced on Thursday.
At the same time, the ministry is lifting a ban on the sale of similar items by supermarkets which had been imposed on November 10 in response to concerns of unfair competition.

Ministry announces first Greek-made rapid coronavirus test
The Development Ministry on Monday announced Greece's first locally produced rapid antigen test for the novel coronavirus, hailing its development as a "major success."
A part of a 2.9-million-euro research program funded by the ministry, the test is the result of cooperation between six research centers and four universities.

Seeking to improve safety standards at amusement parks and other entertainment venues around the country, inspectors of the National Transparency Authority (EAD) have made a series of recommendations that were included in the relevant regulations signed off by the Development Ministry.
