Investigation launched into fashion shoot in mosque amid debate

An investigation has been launched by the prosecution into a director and model who were involved in a controversial filming shoot inside a mosque in the capital Ankara.

Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against the director identified as B.K. and the model E.C. for filming at Kocatepe Mosque.

Turkish President Supports Top Cleric’s Homophobic Comments

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday evening that he supports Ali Erbas, the head of Directorate of Religious Affairs, Diyanet, over his statements condemning homosexuality.

Erdogan also slammed the Ankara Bar Association, a lawyers' group, for accusing Erbas of inciting hatred.

Top religious body calls for social distancing during Ramadan

Turkey's top religious body on April 14 called for social distancing during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan to stem the spread of coronavirus.
In a statement, the Directorate of Religious Affairs said: "Iftar [fast-breaking] gatherings should be avoided with relatives, neighbors, and friends."
