Türkiye will strengthen Europe's energy security not only through natural gas but also by providing green energy, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said, noting Türkiye's aim to increase installed renewable capacity to 120 gigawatts by 2035.

Electricity needs of all households in Türkiye are met with the electricity generated only from wind and solar power plants, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said.

The Energy Ministry is reportedly considering a scenario of imposing a special tax on the revenues of RES projects that were connected to the grid before 2021 as a key measure for zeroing out the deficit of the RES support account projected to reach 257 million euros by year-end.

The Environment and Energy Ministry intends to crack down on renewable energy suppliers who exceed their licensed capacity, committing a form of "reverse power theft" by flooding the system with unwanted electricity, the ministry's general secretary, Aristotelis Aivaliotis, told the Renewables & Storage Forum last week.

Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has stated that sending off the Oruç Reis Seismic Research Vessel to Somalia marks the beginning of a new era in Türkiye's natural gas and oil exploration at sea.

Ukraine has agreed to transit natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe as an interim measure following the expiration of its transit agreement with Russia, although it expects that the quantities of gas from Azerbaijan will include quantities of Russian gas, the news website Ukrainska Pravda wrote today.

Türkiye is expected to sign another long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement this week during Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar's visit to the U.S.

Bayraktar is scheduled to attend the Gastech Exhibition and Conference in Houston, Texas, which will take place between Sept. 17-19.

Environment and Energy Minister Thodoros Skylakakis and Deputy Environment and Energy Minister Alexandra Sdoukou signed on Friday a ministerial decision promoting self-consumption of energy, either individually by all citizens and businesses of the country or jointly (by apartment buildings).
