Govt nominates Petrovič for European Court of Auditors again

Ljubljana – Jorg Kristijan Petrovič, first deputy president of the Slovenian Court of Audit, has been put forward as Slovenia’s candidate for European Court of Auditors once again, after the parliamentary EU Affairs Committee turned down his nomination without debate in mid-October.

EU Parliament vice-president says Slovenia can push forward EU priorities

Ljubljana – First Vice-President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has spoken to the STA ahead of her visit to Slovenia, saying that the country could push forward the EU priorities over the next six months as it assumes the EU Council presidency. She also discussed the Conference on the Future of Europe.

Govt makes public national recovery and resilience plan, opposition calls for debate

Ljubljana – The government has declassified the draft national recovery and resilience plan after pressure from the opposition that a broad debate was required on the document. The parliamentary EU Affairs Committee discussed the plan on Friday, rejecting all recommendations from opposition parties.

Lenarčič urges Slovenia to make best use of recovery funds

Ljubljana – European Crisis Management Commissioner Janez Lenarčič urged Slovenia in a videoconference presenting his priorities in 2021 to the parliamentary EU Affairs Committee to make the best use of the funds available as part of the EU mechanism for recovery and resilience.

Opposition wants national recovery and resilience plan to be discussed in parliament

Ljubljana/Brussels – The opposition will request a plenary session to discuss Slovenia’s national recovery and resilience plan, a document required to draw EUR 5.2 billion in EU recovery funds. Unofficial information meanwhile suggests the European Commission expects the country to make a number of changes to its draft plan.

EU Affairs Committee discusses recovery and resilience plan

Ljubljana – The parliamentary EU Affairs Committee discussed the draft national recovery and resilience plan Slovenia has to adopt and send to Brussels to draw some EUR 5.2 billion in post-pandemic EU funds. The debate was held behind closed doors despite the left-leaning opposition’s request for the session to be open to the public.

Slovenia ratifies legal basis to draw EU recovery funds

Ljubljana – The government ratified on Thursday the EU’s “own resources decision”, the legal basis to allow drawing post-Covid recovery funds. In 2021-2027, Slovenia should be able to draw EUR 5.2 billion.

The EU’s EUR 1.8 trillion recovery fund consists of the 2021-2027 budget worth EUR 1.074 trillion and of the Next Generation EU recovery plan worth EUR 750 billion.
