The European Commission has initiated legal proceedings against Bulgaria, unveiling three infringement procedures aimed at addressing key issues within the country's governance. According to reports from BTA, the Commission's actions target various aspects of Bulgaria's compliance with EU regulations.

The Slovenian government has decided to join the European Commission's lawsuit against Hungary over its anti-LGBT law. A number of member states and the European Parliament are supporting the Commission's legal action at the EU Court of Justice over what is deemed a discriminatory law.

The Commission's claim to establish double non-fulfillment of obligations by Bulgaria in the field of air pollution is inadmissible, decided the EU Court of Justice.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) said on Tuesday that Greece had violated the right of Andreas Georgiou, the former head of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), to a fair hearing, when a top local court denied his request to refer a legal question concerning his care to the EU Court of Justice.

The European Commission decided Thursday to refer Greece and five more countries to the EU Court of Justice (ECJ) for failing to implement provisions in the bloc's regulation on the prevention and management of the introduction and spread of invasive alien species.

The five other countries referred to the ECJ are Bulgaria, Ireland, Italy, Latvia and Portugal.

Ljubljana – The Constitutional Court has annulled rulings by two courts that rejected borrowers’ request for annulment of contracts on loans in Swiss francs and for a refund of overpayments, in what is the first decision of Slovenia’s top court related to issue of Swiss franc loans.

The main culprits for this migraine, which has no cure, are Poland and Hungary, but the problem is much deeper, writes Sputnik.

Hungary is required to withdraw the law, assessed as discriminatory towards the LGBT community, which will enter into force in that country tomorrow.
"If Hungary does not rectify such a situation, the EC will use the powers given to it as the guardian of the agreement," Ursula von der Leyen told the European Parliament.

Ljubljana – Responding to the EU Court of Justice ordering Slovenia pay a fine for failing to transpose changes to the EU directive on markets in financial instruments in due time, the Finance Ministry said the delay had not affected private and public interests. It added that the European Commission had been informed about the transposition.

Ljubljana – Following consultations with parliamentary deputy groups, President Borut Pahor announced on Thursday that he would nominate Maja Brkan for Slovenian judge on the General Court of the European Union. Extra consultations are however needed on candidates for the EU Court of Justice.
