Mesut Özil on his way to Istanbul to complete Fenerbahçe move, the club announced on Jan. 17.

"Club Statement: Our club is bringing Mesut Özil to Istanbul to continue the transfer processes," Fenerbahçe said on Twitter.

Özil also shared photos on Instagram, flying to Istanbul with his family.

Turkish football club Fenerbahçe on Jan. 16 hinted at signing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Özil.

Using the yellow-blue hearts, colors of Fenerbahçe, and sand watch emojis, Özil responded to the club's tweet in which they wrote a line from a song of Turkish singer Tarkan: "Come! Let's be like night and day."

Cosmote TV announced on Wednesday that it had secured the television broadcasting rights for all UEFA European club soccer tournaments - i.e. the Champions League, the Europa League, the new club competition Europa Conference League and the Super Cup - until 2024.

Olympiakos secured a third-place finish in its Champions League group to drop into the last 32 of the Europa League despite a 2-0 home loss to Porto on Wednesday.

Cluj and CSKA-Sofia finished 0-0 in a match of the fifth round in the group stage of the Europa League.

Overall, the Bulgarian team was the better of the two teams, especially in the second half, and should regret not winning for the first time in the group.

This happened due to two missed chances by  Ali Sow, who once again showed that he lacks concentration in front of goal.

AEK and PAOK crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday after suffering bitter losses that banished all hope of progression for Greece's representatives in the tournament.

AEK had another disastrous evening at home in Europe, going down to Portugal's Braga with a 4-2 score at the Olympic Stadium of Athens.
