SYRIZA govt in flurry of backroom negotiations ahead of Mon.

A crucial 48 hours of deliberations ahead of an extraordinary Euro summit on Monday begins with the return of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras from St. Petersburg. A three-hour briefing of Tsipras began at 2 p.m. on Saturday soon after his arrival to Greece. He met with Deputy Prime Minister Giannis Dragasakis followed by Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis and Economy Minister George Stathakis.

Emergency euro summit on Greece called after Eurogroup fails to break deadlock

Eurozone leaders are to convene on Monday for an emergency summit to discuss the Greek crisis after eurozone finance ministers meeting in Luxembourg on Thursday failed to make any progress toward breaking an impasse between Greece and its creditors as withdrawals from Greek banks intensified.

As European finance ministers arrived in Luxembourg on Thursday for a Eurogroup meeting which was not expected to break the impasse in Greece's bailout talks, officials were now examining the possibility of an emergency eurozone summit in Brussels on June 25, on the sidelines of a European Council taking place on the same day.

72 hours: Greece seeks deus ex machina as final hour nears

Greece and its international creditors have 72 hours to resolve their differences, with the likelihood of a default seeming more likely as the tock ticks on. Eyes are now turned to European Central Bank Chief Mario Draghi and the central bank meeting on Wednesday that will decide whether funding for Greek banks will continue through European Liquidity Assistance (ELA).
