Croatia Violated Rights Convention Over Killed Afghan Girl, Court Rules

Rights advocates in Croatia have welcomed a European Court of Human Rights ruling on Thursday, that Croatia broke the European Convention on Human Rights in a case of a six-year-old Afghan child, Madina Hussiny, who was killed on November 21, 2017 when she was hit by a passing train close to the Serbian border.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has created a diplomatic scandal by ordering the foreign ministry in Ankara to declare 10 ambassadors persona non grata, including the United States, Germany and France. A man whose case for compensation for the ammunition explosion that claimed 26 lives in March 2008 was not heard by the Albanian courts was awarded 7,500 euros in damages by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
