"Srebrenica was one of darkest moments of humanity"

The statement, posted on the European External Action Service (EEAS) website, reads as follows:

"Today we commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica. As some victims are still being laid to rest, we extend our sympathies to the survivors and to the families and friends of those who have suffered and lost their lives.

Brussels Blocks Cash for Moldova Over Cancelled Elections

The European Commission on Wednesday blocked financial assistance for Moldova after the country's Supreme Court and the Electoral Commission last week cancelled the mayoral elections in the capital, Chisinau.

"The disbursement of the first tranche under the current Macro-Financial Assistance programme has ... been put on hold," the European Commission told BIRN on Wednesday.

European Parliament Votes for €1 Billion in Aid to Ukraine

A €1 billion macro-financial loan to help Ukraine cover part of its external financing needs in 2018-2019 was approved by Parliament on Wednesday.

MEPs agreed to an EU Commission proposal to provide Kiev with another package of macro-financial assistance (MFA), which is an exceptional emergency resource for EU neighbourhood countries struggling to pay their bills.

 

Informal meeting of the Working Party on General Affairs of the Council of the EU

An informal meeting of the Working Party on General Affairs of the Council of the EU was held on 10 and 11 May in Sofia and Plovdiv. The event was part of the calendar of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Representatives of EU Member States, the European Commission, the General Secretariat of the Council and the European External Action Service participated  in the meeting.

President Iohannis: I'll invite Mr. Melescanu to explain standpoint related to statement of EEAS

President Klaus Iohannis says he will invite Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu to explain the standpoint Romanian representatives adopted during the discussion at the level of the European External Action Service regarding the relocation of diplomatic offices in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Pristina "to draft ZSO statute within four months"

Tanjug is reporting that the EU "gave Pristina a four-month time frame for the process."

A statement posted on the website of the the European External Action Service said that "the drafting process for the statute has started and will take place within a four-month time frame."
