Playing chess is more sinful than gambling: Muslim televangelist
Turkish televangelist Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, popularly known as "Cübbeli" Ahmet Hoca (Robed Ahmet Hoca), has raised eyebrows by claiming that playing chess is more sinful than gambling, daily Hürriyet reported on Jan. 2.
Ünlü said chess players were "cursed" and claimed that "most people who played chess are liars."
Scientists survey the last hidden region of South Pole (photos)
The last unknown part on earth, the South Pole, has finally been surveyed. European scientists have used instruments to the region to map its hidden depths. Known as PolarGAP, the project was largely funded by the European Space Agency (Esa) to gather measurements over an area of Earth that its satellites cannot see, as they generally only fly up to about 83 degrees in latitude.

ESA robot probe to land on Mars (photos)
The European Space Agency (Esa) is getting ready to put a probe on Mars.
Its Schiaparelli robot will attempt the risky descent to the surface in the coming hours, after a 500 million km journey from Earth.
The touchdown is regarded as a dress rehearsal for a much more important venture in four years’ time when Esa will bid to place a very expensive rover on the planet.
