Defense, foreign ministers to brief parliament on PKK attacks

Defense Minister Yaşar Güler and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan are set to provide briefings to the parliamentary plenary tomorrow on the weekend's deadly PKK attacks in northern Iraq as the parliament reconvenes following a two-week hiatus marked by budget talks.

The parliamentary session, scheduled to commence at 3 p.m., will be presided over by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.

Felicity Party MP dies after collapsing during parliamentary speech

Hasan Bitmez, a deputy from the Felicity Party (SP), has passed away after collapsing during his speech in the Turkish parliament.

The 22-minute speech on Dec. 12's session, which concluded with the phrase "I greet you all with respect," took a tragic turn when Bitmez collapsed, hitting his head on a marble step behind the lectern.

İYİ Party: Nation Alliance is over

The opposition Nation Alliance has completed its mission as the elections are over, and all sides will go their separate ways, a senior member of the İYİ (Good) Party has said.

"All alliances are election alliances, and when the election is over, all alliances disappear," İYİ Party Secretary-General Uğur Poyraz said on June 1 in a televised interview.

CHP leader reaffirms readiness for presidential candidacy if opposition agrees

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu reiterated his readiness to run in the next presidential elections as the candidate of the Nation's Alliance if the opposition agrees on his name.

"If there is an agreement on my name, I have no right to object," Kılıçdaroğlu said in an interview with FOX TV on Feb. 3.
