Bulgaria 'Declares Turkish Diplomat Persona Non Grata'

Bulgaria has declared persona non grata a Turkish diplomat working at the Consulate General in Burgas, a diplomatic source has said.

The decision is explained with the fact he is carrying out activity that breaches the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relation, Focus News Agency quotes the source as saying.

Bulgarian Drivers Extend 'Counter-Blockade' on Greece Border

Bulgarian drivers have sealed off yet another border crossing point on the frontier with Greece, vowing to include more border crossings in what is already called a "counter-blockade".

Kapitan Petko Voyvoda-Ormenion border crossing, on the eastern part of the common border, was closed to all traffic at 08.15 local time, Focus News Agency quotes border police officials as saying.

Bulgaria FM: EU 'to Launch Proceedings' against Greece over Border Blockade

The European Commission is to launch infringement proceedings against Greece, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov has said.

He has also noted that tension on both sides of the Bulgarian-Greek border is growing and is becoming "unacceptable".

The EU Commission has not yet commented on his words.

Blockade at Bulgaria-Greece Border Enters Third Day

Protesting Greek farmers are set to continue their strike action at the common border with Bulgaria, the Kulata-Promachonas crossing having been severely affected since Monday.

Greece's other neighbors are also affected by blockades as farmers are venting their anger at the Athens government which plans on scrapping subsidies and reforming the social insurance system.

Bulgaria, Montenegro Sign Social Security Agreement

A bilateral security agreement between Bulgaria and Montenegro signed on Monday will pave Montenegro's way to EU accession talks, Bulgarian Deputy PM and Labor Minister Ivaylo Kalfin has said.

Kalfin is one of the Bulgarian officials who met Igor Luksic, Montenegro's Foreign Minister, during his visit to Sofia.

Protesting Greek Farmers Stage Blockage of Border with Bulgaria

Thousands of Greek farmers on Wednesday rallied at two border crossings between Greece and Bulgaria and elsewhere across their country.

The Ilinden-Exochi border crossing remained sealed off from 11:00 local time (EET) to 14:00, but the blockade was renewed at about 18:00, a Greece-based correspondent of the Bulgarian National Radio says.
