OFI Crete is relegated for match-fixing

The Greek soccer federation decided on Monday the relegation of OFI Crete to the second division, and of second-tier club Aiginiakos to the third division, for fixing last year's Football League match between them. In response a firm of hardcore OFI fans threatened against the Greek national team playing its home games in Iraklio.

75% of football matches in Greek 2nd division league fixed, data reveals

After a year of being under the control of a FIFA normalisation committee, Greek football looks to be in a worse position than when FIFA parachuted itself in to take control. New data suggests that as many as 75% of the games in the country’s second tier Football League show signs of match-fixing under FIFA’s stewardship.

Greek Super League champion to be decided in play-offs from next season

The Greek Super League, the country’s professional football body, has decided to limit the competing teams from 16 to 14 from the next season by a narrow majority. The body’s board members also decided to change the structure of the end of season play-offs, with the league’s champion also participating in the mini-championship at the end of the regular season.

Four injured as hooligans attack venue of Greek soccer league draw

About 30 helmeted hooligans attacked the Athens restaurant where the draw for the Greek second division football league took place resulting in four injuries and damages to facilities, parked cars and media equipment.

One news photographer was taken to hospital with cuts and bruises late Monday while three others were treated by ambulance crews.
