Officials crack down on illegal hunters

The Forestry and Water Affairs Ministry has launched new efforts to prevent hunters from illegally harming wildlife.

The Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate, General Directorate of Forests, gendarmerie, police, village heads and honorary hunting inspectors have joined hands to support an effective fight against illegal hunters.

Living cultural treasure brings in visitors in Giresun

The Yedi Değirmenler (Seven Mills) Nature Park in the northern province of Giresun has been serving nature and culture tourism with its 250- to 300-year-old mills, which are still used by villagers.
 
The mills, which were built on waterfalls and rivers by corn producers in the region centuries ago, are still functioning. 

Ministry launches 6 mln-lira cleaning project for Lake Uzungöl

Authorities have allocated 6 million Turkish Liras to clean up Lake Uzungöl, a major tourist attraction in the eastern Black Sea region in Trabzon, the Forestry and Water Affairs Ministry announced April 14. 

Efforts to remove mud and sediment from the lake so as to increase tourism have started.

Ankara green area faces threat of more construction

A green area containing a historical public building as well as thousands of trees in the capital Ankara has been subjected to a recent amendment which increased the size of its constructible area after being granted to Turkey's Forestry and Water Affairs Ministry, a move which might turn the green land into a concrete block.
