Following Ankara's announcement of an upcoming military incursion in northern Syria, the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army has deployed some 5,000 armed men in the region to act with the Turkish army to clear Tal Rifaat and Manbij provinces of PKK/YPG terrorists.

"We can take Tal Rifaat in 24 hours with Turkish soldiers," SNA commanders said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Turkish army has started hitting some PKK/YPG targets in northern Syria's Tal Rifaat and Manbij districts with cannon fire as the preparations for an upcoming crossover military operation, aimed to be conducted for safe return of some 500,000 Syrians, are ongoing.

A house that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, used as his military headquarters in Syria's northern province of Afrin during World War I will be renovated and turned into a museum.

"The house has already been cleaned, and a project to restore and turn the house into a museum has been prepared," the Hatay Governor's Office said.

Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on March 10 criticized the cease-fire Ankara and Moscow brokered last week, saying there is "no truce" but a "cessation of military activities."

A car bomb exploded in the city of Tell Abiad, Syria, near the border with Turkey. At least 4 people were killed and dozens were injured.

Following the blast, roads leading to and from the city were closed by local authorities, while the seriously injured were taken to a hospital in the nearby Turkish city of Akcakale.

No terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility.

Turkey's Special Forces Command and units from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) launched a joint operation in the early hours of Nov. 18 against a crime group in the Syrian province of Afrin.

The governor's office in the southern border province of Hatay has denied allegations that Free Syrian Army (FSA) members have voted in the city's Defne neighborhood, following a social media post from a local journalist alleging that buses without license plates and with Syrian flags entered the neighborhood. 

Turkey's army chief on May 25 visited the southern border province of Hatay to inspect troops taking part in the ongoing Operation Olive Branch in northwestern Syria. 

In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar was briefed by the commanders on duty in the region and issued orders.

The Turkish military has opened an emergency services hospital in Afrin, northwestern Syria, about a month after Turkish troops and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) captured the Afrin district center from the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG).

At least 9,880 Syrians in Turkey have returned to their country through the Cilvegozu border gate in Turkey's southern Hatay province in last three-and-a-half months, Turkish officials said, reported Anadolu Agency
