PM Golob visiting Brussels to discuss coming EU summit (background)
Ljubljana/Brussels – Prime Minister Robert Golob will start his two-day visit to Brussels on Thursday to meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel. The PM’s first visit abroad after assuming office will be mainly aimed at preparations for next week’s EU summit that will focus on Ukraine.
Golob to informally meet Pahor, coalition talks to start Tuesday
Ljubljana/Koper – Robert Golob, the head of the Freedom Movement party that has convincingly won Sunday’s general election, is expected to meet President Borut Pahor informally on Tuesday as the most likely candidate for the prime minister-designate. Talks with the Social Democrats (SD) and Left on forming a new coalition are also expected tomorrow.
Five centre-left parties expect to win election
Ljubljana – The new Freedom Movement party and the four opposition parties associated in the informal KUL coalition are convinced they will win the general election on Sunday and form a stable government. Their leaders said that the five parties operated as a well-coordinated team as they addressed the press on Friday before the election blackout sets in.

Freedom Movement condemns Mahnič’s “radical Islamist” tweet
Ljubljana – The Freedom Movement party has condemned in the strongest terms a tweet by Žan Mahnič, the state secretary for national security at the prime minister’s office, which labelled one of their candidates, Faila Pašić, a “radical Islamist” and accused the party of opening doors to Islamisation and sharisation of Slovenia.
Poll shows SDS strongly in the lead
Ljubljana – If election was held this Sunday, most respondents in a poll conducted by pollster Parsifal would vote for the ruling Democrats (SDS). The party’s support rose by 3 percentage points to 22.9% in the past month. The Freedom Movement party headed by Robert Golob would come second, on 13.2% support, up by 2.8 percentage points.

Vox populi poll: Freedom Movement leads ahead of SDS
Ljubljana – The latest Vox Populi poll by Ninamedia sees the Freedom Movement party headed by Robert Golob in leads as it is preferred by 23.9% of the respondents, followed by the ruling Democrats (SDS) with 21.2%.
