Erdogan Announces Start of Military Operation in Syria

Turkey to strike YPG unless it leaves Manbij: FM Çavuşoğlu
Turkey will strike the People's Protection Units (YPG), the military wing of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), if they do not withdraw from Manbij, a former bastion of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) that has been taken over by predominantly Kurdish forces, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated on March 2.

The Syrian Army has decided to go ahead with a plan of forming all-women units based on volunteers. The first such unit has been formed in Qamishli, the biggest Kurdish city at the Northeast Syria. The unit has no age limit, and there is already a video released of the volunteers being trained in small arms and checkpoint duties.

Turkish troops sweeping ISIL in al-Bab: Ankara
Turkish troops and Turkey-backed Syrian rebels are conducting a cleaning up operation against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in al-Bab, which Turkey has been trying to liberate since December 2016 as part of its ongoing Euphrates Shield Operation, officials have said.

Syrian army says it will conduct ops near Aleppo against ISIL
The Syrian army signaled on Feb. 2 that it would press on with operations against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) northeast of Aleppo, near al-Bab, where Turkish forces along with Ankara-backed Syrian rebels have been clashing with the jihadists since December 2016.
