A Ukraine government plan to embarrass Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit failed Thursday when an Argentine company refused to erect a protest poster outside the meeting, AFP reports.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday abruptly canceled his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin two days before they were scheduled to sit down on the sidelines of the G20 summit, reports CNN. 

The President pinned the cancellation on Russia's refusal to release Ukrainian Navy ships and sailors seized during a maritime confrontation between the two countries on Sunday.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the West was imposing sanctions on Russia to stand up for international law and added that she would address the Sea of Azov issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin at an upcoming G20 summit, reported Reuters. 

And it should be conveyed by Trump.

Namely, Petro Poroshenko wants the US president to personally convey the message to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the upcoming G20 summit in Buenos Aires. This message reads: "Please leave Ukraine, Mr. Putin."

That's what Poroshenko himself said in an interview with NBC News, which was published two days after the Kerch incident.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Buenos Aires on Wednesday to join a Group of 20 summit, media reported, as he aims to shrug off the lingering stigma of journalist Jamal Khashoggi's murder, reports AFP. 

The prince was received at the airport by Argentina's foreign minister Jorge Faurie, according to Argentine press.

Ukraine's president signed an act imposing martial law in border regions on Wednesday as mounting tensions over Russia's seizure of Ukrainian ships saw US President Donald Trump threaten to cancel talks with Vladimir Putin, reports AFP.
