ForMin Aurescu reconfirms Romania's attachment to La Francophonie

Romania's Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu on Monday welcomed rector of the University Agency of la Francophonie (AUF) Slim Khalbous, at the ministry's headquarters, reconfirming Romania's attachment to the promotion of la Francophonie including by organising in Bucharest, September 21-24 in a hybrid format the 18th meeting of the General Assembly of AUF, amidst AUF's 60th anniversary this year.

Parliament adopts law for extending state of emergency powers for detention, dismissals

Regulations including the extension of some state of emergency measures were approved in the Turkish Parliament early on July 18.

An omnibus bill that included regulations on the economy was passed in the General Assembly of the parliament and became law.

PM Citu: Revenues, lower than wage costs in half of territorial administrative units

Prime Minister Florin Citu argued on Monday, at the beginning of the General Assembly of the Association of Romanian Municipalities, in favour of a spending reform at the level of territorial administrative units (UAT), mentioning that in half of the cases own revenues or even total revenues are lower than wage costs.

Court releases ex-HDP MP Gergerlioğlu

A Turkish court on July 7 ruled in favor of releasing the former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) lawmaker Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu from jail, after a top court ruling that his rights were violated.

Gergerlioğlu was imprisoned on April 2 after a High Court approved a 2.5-year jail term over allegations of "supporting terrorism" on Feb. 19 and he was unseated from parliament.

MHP leader criticizes Constitutional Court’s decision on ex-HDP MP

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has criticized a Constitutional Court decision ruling that the rights of former Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu have been violated.

"How is terrorist propaganda considered a violation of rights?" the MHP leader said on July 6, addressing his lawmakers in parliament.

CHP leader says he is not afraid of losing immunity

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has stated that the government wants to imprison him and called on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to lift his immunity because he is not afraid of it.

The CHP leader shared a video on his Twitter account on July 3, saying that "Let's lift my immunity right now; let's do it together."
