Group of volunteers re-green burnt areas in the south
Marmaris Nature Volunteers, who came together after the large-scale wildfires in Antalya and Muğla provinces two years ago, have so far planted 20,600 saplings and more than 40,000 seeds in the burnt areas while also organizing regular garbage collection events around the region.
Saplings from 766-year-old tree to be planted
Following the discovery of a 766-year-old chestnut tree in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, the General Directorate of Forestry has initiated a tree planting project in which saplings from the seeds collected from the tree will be planted throughout the province.

Officials aim to tackle risk of wildfires in Antalya
As the new fire season looms ahead, authorities in the coastal town of Antalya, the province with the largest forest area in Türkiye, have announced the completion of comprehensive measures to combat forest fires.
‘Some 90 pct of burned forest areas recovered’
The rehabilitation works of some 90 percent of the 139,500 hectares of land damaged in forest fires last year have been completed, the head of the General Directorate of Forestry has said.
Noting that the rehabilitation works will be completed by the end of the year, Bekir Karacabey said, "The methods to rehabilitate these lands were determined under the guidance of technical teams."

Firefighters battle to control wildfire in Marmaris
Firefighters are intervening by land and air to control a wildfire that broke out overnight in a forest in southern Türkiye.
The cause of the fire in Marmaris district of Muğla province is still unknown. The flames spread in a short time due to winds.
‘Forest commandos’ to take action against wildfires in Turkey

‘Forests burned in summer of 2021 replanted’
Forests and lands that were reduced to ashes as a result of the extreme wildfires that engulfed the southern province of Antalya and the southwestern province of Muğla in the summer of 2021 have been replanted in less than a year, daily Milliyet has reported.
