Magnitude 5.9 earthquake strikes off the coast of Rhodes

A strong temblor rocked the southeast Aegean island of Rhodes on Wednesday. No damage was initially reported. 

According to the revised assessment of the Geodynamic Institute, it was a magnitude 5.9 temblor and occurred at 2.37 p.m. with an epicenter in the sea, 58 kilometers southeast of Lindos, at a depth of 22 km. The initial estimate was 5.7 Richter.

Earthquake in Crete – 3.8 Richter shakes Heraklion

A new earthquake occurred on Tuesday morning in Crete.

According to the Geodynamic Institute, the magnitude of the earthquake was 3.8 Richter, the focal depth at 10 km while the epicenter is located 35 km north of Heraklion.

Strong 5.8R earthquake in Crete

A strong earthquake of 5.8 on the Richter scale, according to the measurement of the Geodynamic Institute, occurred in Crete.

According to the automatic solution of Geodynamic, the earthquake was centered 23 kilometers west-northwest of Arvi.

The focal depth of the strong vibration was 10 km.

Earthquake strikes Evia, no damage or injuries

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.7 struck the island of Evia on Wednesday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The Geodynamic Institute said the quake struck shortly after 9 a.m. local time around 24 kilometers south of the coastal town of Kymi at a depth of 5 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt in Athens.

Rhodes rattled by tremor

A moderate earthquake measuring 4.5-magnitude on the Richter scale struck off the southeastern coast of the island of Rhodes on Friday afternoon.

The epicenter of the 4.15 p.m. tremor was located 31 kilometers southeast of the area of Kattavia, and at a depth of 28.4 kilometers, the Athens-based Geodynamic Institute said.
