The metamorphosis of Greek-German relations

Public opinion plays a role in democracies. The extent to which polls influence the political decision-making process is a matter of dispute among experts. This applies to domestic politics, and also to foreign policy making. A majority of Greeks have a negative opinion of Germany. This is confirmed by several recent polls.

President visits Germany

In a reflection of a new era of cooperation, President Katerina Sakellaropoulou began a three-day visit to Germany on Wednesday.

The visit is taking place amid mutual trust after a decade of bilateral friction over the debt crisis, the migration issue and the German government's stance of equal distances with regard to tension between Greece and Turkey.

"When we rebuild Ukraine, it will be carried out in accordance with the goal of Ukraine's entry into the EU," Scholz said at the opening of the German-Ukrainian economic forum in Berlin.
In his opinion, the traffic infrastructure as well as the transport sector must be renewed so that it will enable a smooth connection to the EU infrastructure.

German-French relations are shaken, and this is indicated by the cancellation of the planned meeting of the governments of the two countries, assesses the Viennese daily "Standard".
The newspaper said French President Emmanuel Macron canceled a meeting with the German government, which was supposed to be the first of its kind between the two countries.
