Coast Guard releases video showing migrant boat sinking

Greece's Coast Guard on Tuesday released a video showing the moment a boat carrying 22 migrants sank northeast of the island of Lesvos, where four people died on Monday.

A Coast Guard source said on Monday that the boat was spotted in Turkish territorial waters and the country's Coast Guard was notified without response.

Missing migrants found alive on beach in Lesvos

Greece's Coast Guard said Tuesday it had found the three men who went missing when they jumped out of a migrant boat while approaching the island of Lesvos.

The migrants were located on a coastal area on the south of the island during a search and rescue operation that located 24 people and the body of one man.

Authorities were alerted to the missing men by other rescuees.

One dead, three missing from migrant boat in Lesvos

One man died and three are feared missing after a boat carrying an unspecified number of migrants reached a rocky area in the southeastern part of Lesvos on Tuesday.

Greece's Coast Guard has so far rescued 24 people from the area and is continuing its search operation assisted by an open sea vessel, a helicopter and Army speedboats.

Greek Coast Guard fires warning shots against migrant boat

Greece's Coast Guard said on Tuesday it had fired warning shots against a vessel which it said was carrying migrants from Turkey to Greece.

The incident took place at about 3.40 a.m. on Tuesday, when a private boat with an unspecified number of passengers attempted to sail towards the island of Rhodes.

Two rescued after speed boat sinks off Spetses

Greece's Coast Guard rescued on Wednesday night two people after their speed boat run aground and then sank in the area of Kouzounos, off the eastern coast of the island of Spetses.

Both men, aged 62 and 70, were able to abandon the sinking boat and board another vessel before the Coast Guard arrived to transport them to the port.

Two rescued from sinking speed boat off Spetses

Greece's Coast Guard on Thursday rescued two people from a small speed boat that run aground and then sank in the area of Kouzounos, off the eastern coast of the island of Spetses.

Both men, aged 62 and 70, were transported to the shore and are well in their health.

Port authorities will examine the scene and remove the boat from the area later in the day.

Rescue operation continues in deadly migrant boat sinking off Paxi

Greece's Coast Guard resumed on Monday a rescue operation to locate refugees and migrants who fell into the sea when their boat sank on Saturday 13 nautical miles southwest of the island of Paxi, western Greece.

The twelve bodies that have so far been pulled out of the sea have not yet been identified, but none of them are children, the state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.

Another 131 migrants reach Greek islands

Greece's Coast Guard rescued 131 migrants off the coast of Chios and Samos in the eastern Aegean in the early hours of Tuesday.
Forty seven migrants were located in a dinghy northwest of Samos, while authorities were later called to the same area to assist another boat carrying 51 people. All migrants were led to the port of Vathi.
