Alleged hotel sale sparks investigation in Varosha

The allegation that three hotels in Turkish Cyprus' Varosha city have been sold to a Turkish businessman by their Greek owners has sparked concerns in the Greek administration as the sale or transfer of real estate in the area opened to civilian visits three years ago after a 46-year hiatus is under the control of a commission.

Greece acknowledges Turkey's role in managing migration crisis

Turkey has played a significant role in managing the migration crisis, the Greek prime minister said on Sept. 30. 

Speaking at a session held as part of the Athens Democracy Forum, Kyriakos Mitsotakis commented on matters pertaining to migration, fight against COVID-19 as well as the defense cooperation agreement signed with Paris.

Turkish Cypriot leader points to rise of far right in southern Cyprus

Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar said May 31 there was a significant increase in votes for the far-right ultra-nationalist National Popular Front (ELAM) in the latest legislative elections in the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus (GASC). 

The leader of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was speaking to Anadolu Agency on the results of the polls held Sunday.

Greece's state sector must be staffed with capable individuals who don't simply rely on their party background and connections. Recent reports of failed political candidates and party cadres being appointed to agencies of the country's broader public sector are a cause for disappointment.
