Petition launched against conversion of Chora Church in Istanbul into mosque
The Hellenic American Leadership Council, an influential Greek-American advocacy group, has launched a petition against Ankara's conversion of another important Byzantine monument, the Chora Church, into a mosque.
AHEPA honors Greek PM Mitsotakis, Cyprus President Anastasiades and shipowner Marinakis
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday evening reiterated - the second time in a week - that the country will resolutely defend all of its sovereign rights, speaking after being honored at the 99th Anniversary AHEPA Supreme Convention.
The convention is taking place in Athens.
AHC launches campaign to lift Cyprus arms embargo
The American Hellenic Council of California (AHC), a Los Angeles-based Greek-American advocacy organization, has launched a campaign to support House Resolution 5508 - legislation to lift the US arms embargo on Cyprus introduced by Washington in 1987.

The US is not just Washington
A meeting at the White House is always a significant event. However, the United States is more than Washington, the capital, where Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is set to arrive on Monday. There are other major cities, such as Chicago, which Tsipras is also scheduled to visit - and with good reason.

Trump marks Greek Independence Day
President Donald Trump has marked Greek Independence Day with a rather ominous message.
At a White House reception, Trump said that in the years to come "we don't know what will be required to defend our freedom."
But he said it will take "great courage, and we will show it."
