Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (AA) - The new coalition government formed in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) won the vote of confidence on Nov. 13. 

The Assembly of the Republic held an extraordinary meeting to vote for the coalition of National Unity Party (UBP) and the Democrat Party (DP).

Maximalist and illegal claims by Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration which overlook the presence of Turkish Cypriots are behind the tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkey's Foreign Ministry said late on Oct. 19. 

Twelve EU member states asked the European Commission to strengthen measures against irregular migration and financially support physical barriers at the bloc's external borders.

Greece should not be provoked by others against Turkey, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Oct. 5. 

Underlining that Turkey has always believed in a peaceful solution in compliance with international law and good neighbor relations, he noted that Ankara favors dialogue with Athens.

Turkey will resolutely continue to protect its own and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus' (TRNC) rights in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Oct. 2. 

Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration are engaged in "unilateral and provocative activities" that threaten regional peace and stability, the ministry said in a statement.

The Greek Cypriot administration is responsible for rising tensions on the Eastern Mediterranean island, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Oct. 1. 

The 63rd round of the consultative talks between Turkey and Greece will take place in Ankara on Oct. 6, Foreign Ministry said in a written statement on Oct. 1.

The statement came on the same day when Turkey condemned a statement by Greece about the maritime jurisdiction regarding the Greek-French defense deal.

Turkey on Sept. 30 vowed to contribute to the fight against climate change.

This came in a meeting of the country's National Security Council chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the capital Ankara. The meeting lasted for about three and half hours.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) criticized the Greek Cypriot administration on Sept. 16, saying it is "violating the diplomatic code of ethics." 

Turkey on Sept. 8 "strongly condemned" an instruction by the Greek Cypriot administration for English teachers to rip out a page in a textbook mentioning Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic.
