Golden Dawn Youths Invade North Macedonia Artist’s Exhibition in Greece

Members of the youth wing of the far-right Greek group Golden Dawn, with masks on their faces, on Wednesday night broke into an exhibition of the fine artist Sergej Andreevski from North Macedonia, held in the gallery of the Thessaloniki municipality of Kalamaria. They verbally attacked the artist and bragged later on the internet that they had shut down the exhibition.

Swedish police arrest man for Athens bank safe deposit box heist

Swedish police have arrested a 46-year-old man suspected of involvement in the case of the robbery from five safe deposit boxes in an Athens bank in July 2022.

Earlier this month, Greek police said they had identified three members of an international crime gang as being behind the theft of the contents of the safe deposit boxes in the Nea Smyrni suburb.

Man wanted by Interpol for child trafficking arrested in Athens

Police in Athens have arrested a 56-year-old fugitive wanted by the authorities in Albania for child trafficking.

The suspect, who was wanted on an Interpol arrest warrant, was tracked down in the central Athens district of Agios Nikolaos and taken into custody on Monday afternoon.

KIS congratulates Greek authorities on preventing terrorist attack

The Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS) has congratulated Greek Police (ELAS) and the country's intelligence agency (EYP) for preventing a terrorist attack planned against at least one Jewish site in Athens.

"Thanks to the methodical work and timely intervention of the security forces, dozens of human lives were saved," KIS said in a statement.

Investigations began months ago following information provided to the Greek National Intelligence Service, NIS, by the Israeli secret service Mossad.

‘Panic button’ app to help women facing domestic violence

A digital application for cellphones to support women facing violence at home, called "Panic Button," was introduced in Athens and Thessaloniki on March 23.

The free app is downloaded on a smartphone and activates the service by pressing on a button which sends a text message (sms) to the operational center of the police. The app contains the needed information to locate the user.
