The head of the Athens Traders Association, Panagis Karellas, has expressed the organization?s satisfaction with regard to a new scheme recently unveiled by the Greek Police aimed at curbing crime in the city?s historic center and other downtown areas.

Child molestors roam freely in Greece
The capture of Filippos Leventos, the alleged serial pedophile of Peristeri, has opened a can of worms for the Greek police. According to Proto Thema's data over 968 people have been accused of child molestation from 2003 through to 2015. Of the 330 arrested, there were files created for just 55 people.

Police in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, have arrested two people after they were found to be carrying counterfeit passports and other bogus travel documents.
Police arrest young female accomplice of convicted terrorist Xiros
"Aggeliki," a suspected accomplice of convicted terrorist Christodoulos Xiros, was arrested on Monday morning at Salamis by the Greek police.
The young woman was reportedly helping Xiros while he was still at large to plan the escape of the imprisoned members of the Conspiracy of Fire Cells militant group from Korydallos prison.

Another two suspected members of a huge extortion racket centered around convicted crime boss Panayiotis Vlastos were remanded in custody on Wednesday after defending themselves before an investigating magistrate.
No link to Belgian attack plot from those detained in Greece, says police
Greece said it had found no evidence linking people they detained for questioning on Saturday to a foiled Islamist plot to attack Belgian police.
Greek police detained over a half dozen people and were sending DNA samples to Belgian counterparts. Belgian state broadcasters said authorities were seeking a Brussels man of Moroccan origin who was hiding in Greece.
No link between Greece arrests and Belgium jihadists: Belgian prosecutor
No link has been established between at least four people arrested by Greek anti-terrorism police and a jihadist cell broken up this week in Belgium, the Belgian prosecutor's office said Jan. 18.
"There is no connection between these people and the enquiry" in Belgium, Eric Van Der Sypt, spokesman for the federal prosecutor's office, said.
Police make arrests in probe of link to Belgian Islamist cell
Greek police detained four people on Saturday over alleged links to an Islamist cell in Belgium, where two suspected terrorists were shot by officers on Thursday.
One of the men, aged 27 is alleged to have been in regular contact with the cell in the Belgian town of Verviers, where two extremists were killed and one arrested.
