Few tourism enterprises gauge their sustainability

Although eight in 10 tourism businesses in Greece have already implemented or intend to soon adopt at least one measure of environmental and socio-sustainability, one in two players do not engage in strategic partnerships to promote sustainability according to a survey by the Institute of the Greek Tourism Confederation (INSETE).

Tourism is in need of shifts

Greece needs to immediately upgrade its infrastructure, as well as the proper management of individual destinations of Greece, the new president of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), Giannis Paraschis, said during the presentation of Kathimerini's Reimagine Tourism in Greece initiative on Wednesday.

SETE chief expresses high hopes for tourism season

The year 2023 is on track to be better than 2022 for tourism, the president of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), Yiannis Retsos, said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA). 

He noted that this increase in the country's tourism figures looked set to continue in the years to come, based on international trends. 

Tourism revenues beat target, PM says

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that tourism revenues have surpassed the targets set by the Finance Ministry during a meeting with the executive committee of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) on Monday. 

"This has provided greater financial resilience to support society with targeted measures to tackle the crisis of imported inflation," he said. 

PM’s agenda for Monday

Prime Minister Mitsotakis is scheduled to have a series of meetings Monday.

At 11.30 a.m., he will hold a working meeting with the executive committee of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) at Athens International Airport.

At 1.30 p.m., Mitsotakis will receive UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Maximos Mansion.
