Hellenic American Union
The annual "Photographic Pairs" exhibition, organized by the Hellenic American Union, the Hellenic American College (HAEC) and the Photography Circle, is holding its 2020 edition at the Hellenic American Union's Kennedy Gallery. Every year, a selection of work by two different photographers is displayed side by side in order to highlight similarities or underlying differences.
The Hellenic American Union is hosting a series of screenings of contemporary Spanish cinema in an event aimed at showcasing the variety of its genres, themes and production value. This year's screening series comprises three fiction films and two documentaries, starting on Monday, November 4, with Elena Martin's 2017 "Julia Ist," a drama aimed audiences aged 12 and over.
The Hellenic American Union presents an exhibition of works by 70 Greek comic artists and illustrators in a show organized by Comicdom Press and the Hellenic American College (HAEC). "En Aithria 10" showcases the range and diversity of creative work, sources of inspiration and artistic currents to be seen in contemporary Greek comics and illustration.
Greece's biggest event dedicated to comic books is back with a strong lineup of events and special guests, including Spain's Raul Allen and Patricia Martin, the UK's Dan Watters and Italian artist Stefano Zanchi. This year's honored artist is Greece's Tasos Marangos (Tasmar). Events will be taking place at the Hellenic American Union and the French Institute from 11 a.m. to 9.30 p.m.
Much loved in Greece, Robert Frost (1874-1963) visited the country 58 years ago as a guest of the Hellenic American Union, which is paying tribute to the American poet with a special event on Wednesday, March 13. This evening of verse brings together 15 poets to read selected works by Frost in both the original and a new Greek translation.
Inspired by Emily Dickinson's well-known verse calling for a sideways reflection upon truth, Liana Sakelliou discusses issues of gender identity with four renowned Greek women writers who have been translated and published recently in the United States: Zyranna Zateli, Maria Mitsora, Amanda Michalopoulou and Ersi Sotiropoulos.
The Hellenic American Union presents "Images of Everyday Life," a new group show featuring photographs by 60 members of the Photography Circle which capture seemingly insignificant scenes but on a closer look manage to describe day-to-day life more eloquently than words. Opening hours are Mondays to Fridays from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.
