Much loved in Greece, Robert Frost (1874-1963) visited the country 58 years ago as a guest of the Hellenic American Union, which is paying tribute to the American poet with a special event on Wednesday, March 13. This evening of verse brings together 15 poets to read selected works by Frost in both the original and a new Greek translation.

The Hellenic American Union presents "Images of Everyday Life," a new group show featuring photographs by 60 members of the Photography Circle which capture seemingly insignificant scenes but on a closer look manage to describe day-to-day life more eloquently than words. Opening hours are Mondays to Fridays from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

Richard W. Moore | Athens | To July 7
American photographer Richard W, Moore juxtaposes the past and the present in "Athens Twice Seen," an exhibition in which he merges his own images snapped in emblematic parts of the Greek capital with vintage photographs. The show will remain on display at the Hellenic American Union through July 7. Open Mondays to Fridays from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

November 17 assassin leaves prison after third furlough
A leading member of November 17, Greece's most deadly guerrilla group, left Korydallos prison on Tuesday morning after being granted his third two-day leave from prison.
Dimitris Koufodinas had gone on a hunger strike for almost two weeks because authorities refused to give him a leave of absence from prison. He was transferred to Nikaia state hospital earlier in the month.
Jailed N17 terrorist released from hospital
Jailed November 17 terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas, who had gone on a hunger strike for almost two weeks, was released from the Nikaia state hospital on Monday.
He was to be returned to Korydallos maximum security prison before he is granted his third 48-hour furlough.

Two charged in connection to Hellenic American Union attack
Police on Wednesday charged two people detained in connection to the attack at the Hellenic American Union (HAU) in Athens on Tuesday with aggravated damages, theft, grievous bodily harm and contempt.

In a strongly worded tweet Tuesday, the US Embassy in Athens condemned the two attacks on the Hellenic American Union offices in Thessaloniki and Athens by anarchist groups who support hunger-striker and jailed terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas.

US embassy condemns attacks against AHU, calls for arrest of perpetrators
The US embassy in Athens on Tuesday strongly condemned the two attacks on the Hellenic American Union offices in Thessaloniki and Athens by anarchist groups who support hunger-striker and jailed terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas.
"We strongly condemn the recent attacks on American educational institutions in Thessaloniki and Athens," the embassy said in a tweet.
